Overview
This 5-day tour a Manu national park Madre De Dios starts in Cusco. We will travel very early to Manu jungle and you can observe species like the bear of cravings, birds like the cock of the rocks. Also, we navigate the madre de dios river and you will observe a great variety of birds. You will visit Lake Otorongo, Lake Salvador, Boca Manu and Paititi lodge in this Manu tour we will go to appreciate the macaw licks.
Itinerary
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel, for a full day ride in our comfortable and private bus. On the way, you will visit the funerary towers or Chullpas de Ninamarca at 3750 meters above sea level. You will visit Paucartambo, a folkloric town with a colonial bridge. We ascend to area of Paucartambo, the Acjanaco sector. This is the point of entry to the Manu National Park. Then we descend through the mysterious cloud forest, which hosts a great variety of flora and fauna and full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. We will stop for a walk to give you the opportunity to witness the Cock of the Rocks (Rupícola Peruviana) in the ritual of mating. There are also possibilities to observe the trogon bird and the quetzal bird with his beautiful colors. If you are lucky, we can observe the Spectacled Bear. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the village called Pilcopata. Here is our lodge where we will stay 1 night. All lodges do have private bathrooms with hot water.
After the delicious breakfast, you will continue 45 minutes by bus to watchtower. On the way, you can observe coca plantations, fruit trees and orchids. Here we embark on motorized boat. On the way, we can observe a great variety of birds, such as herons, Kingfisher and always the presence of the vultures. Which has known as the condor of the jungle, the king of the vultures and the Jaguar. First, we will stop at Boca Manu and then a short stop at the ranger’s stations. The boat trip continues and then you will start realizing why Manu is so famous for its wildlife. On the river, you will see groups of turtles, white alligators or perhaps some beavers and many more. In the afternoon, we arrive at our safari camp in Cocha Otorongo. There are twin beds with mosquito nets available inside the platform. After you have accommodated your stay, you will have a walk to visit the lake and the observation tower of 30 meters high. From there you can spot the river giant otters, turtles and birds. Here in Manu, the animals have been hunted. After this excursion dinner and sleep after a long day.
After breakfast, you will visit Cocha Salvador today. This is 30 minutes away from our camp. We are going to walk through the virgin primary forest. We will cross the lake paddling by a silent catamaran. This gives us the opportunity to spot the river wolves and a variety of strange birds like the sultana and different types of monkeys. Later we will walk on the main trails with the guide to learn the operation and secrets of the tropical forest. In the afternoon, we return to our camp in Cocha Otorongo.
Very early in the morning, the group will visit the MACAW CLAY LICK in Quebrada salvadorcillo. Then we will return by boat accross the river. On the way, you can spot giant otters. Night in our lodge with bathroom and showers.
We continue our return by boat on the Alto Madre de Dios River. On the way, we have again the option of seeing many birds and likewise with a bit of luck more animals. This day is very sad because we have to leave our wonderful jungle full of mysteries, and return by boat to Atalaya. Then we travel by bus to Cusco. On the way we can see the Cloud Forest again, with immense variety of flora and fauna. In addition, arrive at the city at 8.30 to 9 p.m.
