Machu Picchu is located in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. The citadel was built around 1450 by the Inca Pachucutec and it has been discovered in 1911. Many things about this archeological village are still mysteries, for example about its real function. Why did the Inca’s build Machu Picchu on a top of a mountain? Some archeologists think if they look to the ruins, Machu Picchu was a summer stay for the richest families like. Some archeologists say Machu Picchu was a defending place. Due to its ideal location, the Incas had a great view over the whole valley. Others think that Machu Picchu was a repository of products out of the jungle, like coca. Only for last reason, they cannot explain why Machu Picchu was built so high.  

If you do a tour through Machu Picchu with 3 different guides, you will get 3 different stories why the Incas built Machu Picchu. That is the amazing thing about Machu Picchu, nobody knows exactly. It remains a big mystery.  

If you are going to Peru, the world wonder Machu Picchu is a must see of course. There are many different ways to visit Machu Picchu. You can go by hiking, by train or if you got a low budget, you can go by car. This trip may seem very long but if you are looking for savings in some trips, this is a perfect tour. Itinerary

Day 1 :

Early in the morning pickup from your stay for transfer of 2 hours to Ollantaytambo.
Leave from Ollantaytambo for 1,5 hour by train to Aguas Calientes.
Arrive in Aguas Calientes, the guide will wait for you at the train station.
Going up to Machu Picchu by bus
Entrance to Machu Picchu + guided tour of approx 2 hrs
Going back to Aguas Calientes by bus
Free time to have lunch
Return to Ollantaytambo by train, transfer will wait for you to bring you back to Cusco.

Faceshield and mask
Clothing for warm and cold climate like a waterproof jacket.
Trekking shoes.
Slippers or sandals (for shower).
